Dimensionally stable and known for it's high strength-to-weight ratio, Douglas Fir is a great choice for many interior or exterior projects and Sound Cedar has all popular grades and millings available.
Douglas Fir Varieties
Coastal Douglas Fir grows in the coastal regions, from west-central British Columbia southward to central California. In Oregon and Washington, its range is continuous from the eastern edge of the Cascades west to the Pacific Coast Ranges and Pacific Ocean. Coastal Douglas Fir is the second tallest conifer species in the world after the Redwood tree.
Further inland, Coastal Douglas Fir is replaced with Inland Douglas Fir mixing with Coastal Douglas Fir around the Cascade Mountains in Washington and Oregon state.
Douglas fir is one of the world's best timber producers and yields more timber than any other tree in North America. The wood is used for dimensional lumber, timbers, pilings, and plywood.
